19th & Haskell Park
19th & Haskell Sts.HISTORY
The park at 19th and Haskell Sts. is a 5-acre plot of land developed in the 1960s.
The park originally was going to be named for firefighters because of its
proximity to
the fire training facility, but the name was not approved by the City Commission.
Additional development took place in the 1990s to create the shelter and update the playground.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PARK
Next to Lawrence's fire training facility, the park at 19th and Haskell Sts.
offers an inside look at how firemen train for their job, as well as a break
from the busy world that surrounds it.
This park has plenty of open space, shade trees,
playground equipment, and a basketball court. A covered shelter with picnic tables is also available.
The amenities of the park include:

- Picnic Tables
- Benches
SHELTERS
There is one shelter located in 19th & Haskell Park. It available for use on a first-come/first-serve basis, and is not reservable.
The amenities of the shelter include:
- Electricty
Reservations for outdoor shelters and indoor facilities are taken at any of the
community recreation centers including the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.;
East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center,
2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center,
4706 Overland Drive and South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St.
