ANNUAL BUTTERFLY TAGGING EVENT TO BE HELD
LAWRENCE –The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will hold its annual monarch butterfly tagging event Saturday, Sept. 20, at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.

Times for the staff-led, one-hour tagging tours are as follows:
10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Tours will lead to the Clinton Park area where participants will catch and tag monarch butterflies. Tagging will also take place at the Nature Center. Insect nets will be provided.

Cost of the tour is $3 per person. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

A free program on monarch butterflies and their migration will take place in the classroom once each hour. In addition, a free butterfly identification hike will be given at 3 p.m. Bring a camera to photograph the butterflies.
