LAWRENCE – As of 3:30 p.m., Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Fall Arts and Crafts Festival scheduled 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, will be held as scheduled.
With the continued forecast of additional rain, a final determination will be made at 4 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 13. Those wishing to find out the festival’s status at that time may call the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Information Line at (785) 832-7999, category 5 for Special Events.
This is the 29th year for the festival, which will showcase 200 arts and crafts exhibits. This year, the festival will also include a special performance by the Lawrence City Band in celebration of Lawrence’s 154th anniversary of its founding. Special activities for children, including a moonwalk, train rides and craft booth will be available. The South Park Wading Pool, which is normally open during the festival, will not be made available.
Entertainment will also be featured at the d throughout the afternoon. Scheduled to perform at the William Kelly Bandstand are:
12 p.m. – Lawrence City Band – City Birthday Celebration
1 p.m. – Billy Spears & the Beer Bellies
2 p.m. – Lonnie Ray Blues Band
3 p.m. – G-Force
4 p.m. – Billy Ebeling & the Late for Dinner Band
