FORESTRY DIVISION TO HOLD WOODCHIP SALE
LAWRENCE – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Forestry Division will offer woodchips for sale the first week of October at the Forestry Division facility, 1420 E. 11th St.

The hours will be as follows:

Thursday, Oct. 4 – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 5 – 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 6 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The woodchip sale is to eliminate excess woodchips generated by the department throughout the year. The department doesn't purchase woodchips, instead it recycles trees that are cut down throughout the city. The trees are then ran through a chipper and used as mulch.

Cost of woodchips is $5 per pickup load (the price will be more for larger trucks). Patrons are asked to bring a tarp for their pickup to secure the woodchips, preventing them from littering the roadway as they drive from the facility.

The sale will take place rain or shine.

For more information, contact Jim Beebe, forestry supervisor, at 785-832-7979.
