LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will close the nature preserve areas surrounding Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., including the walking trails to Mary's Lake, the lake and the area surrounding the lake to the public from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, to allow for the set up of its program Legends and Fairytales.
The program will run Sunday, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and will provide guests with Halloween treats as they hike around Mary's Lake. This is a family program with less-spooky characters from fairytales. There will also be refreshments and live animals. Cost is $3 for those three years and older and $10 for families of four or more.
The program is being sponsored by the Prairie Park Partners and will raise funds for the nature playground.
The areas closed to the public will then be opened once program clean-up is complete around 8 p.m.
