LAWRENCE – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is hosting two safe trick-or-treating opportunities for children.
All Lawrence youth are invited to attend Lawrence Parks and Recreation’s Trunk or Treat from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St. Families who would like to participate in the trunk decorating contest are asked to decorate their car’s trunk or hatch and bring candy so children can trick or treat in a supervised environment. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served at 6 p.m., and prizes will be awarded for best decorated trunk and best costume. There is no cost to participate. Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St., will host its annual Halloween Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. This year’s activities will include a trick or treat hike around Mary’s Lake. Children are asked to come in costume for this afternoon of fun.
