Thursday, November 8, 2007SPECIAL EVENTS TO BE HELD AT THE INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER THIS WEEKEND
LAWRENCE – The leisure pool at Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr., will open at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, when children who attend Lawrence public schools have the day off. The leisure pool normally opens at 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Third Annual Lawrence Aquahawks IMX Swim Meet will be hosted by the Indoor Aquatic Center this weekend. The meet will feature local youth in a variety of individual and team events and is free and open to the public. The competition will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, and conclude at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. Part of the Indoor Aquatic Center’s competition pool will remain open to the public during the meet, and lap swimming hours will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Carl Knox Natatorium, located on the Lawrence High School campus.
Grandparents Day is Sunday, Nov. 11, and local grandmas and grandpas will receive free admission if accompanied by a grandchild. The Indoor Aquatic Center will be open from 1 to 5:45 p.m. on Sunday.
