SKATEBOARD COMPETITION TO BE HELD
LAWRENCE –Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with Douglas County SAFE KIDS Coalition and White Chocolate to hold a skateboard competition and safety clinic.

The safety clinic will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Centennial Park, Skateboard Park. Registration for the skateboard competition will also begin at 9 a.m. and remain open until 10 a.m.

The competition will have novice, intermediate and advanced divisions. There is a maximum of 40 entrants per division. Each skater will be allowed two 60-second runs and will be judged on difficulty, consistency and style. The top three skaters in each division will receive awards. All competitors are required to wear a helmet.

The skateboard competition is free and open to the public. Lunch will also be provided after the event.

In the event of inclement weather, the competition will be held Sunday, May 27, with all times will remaining the same. Cancellation will be announced on KLWN and on the Parks and Recreation Information Line, (785) 832-7999 ext. 1130.

To register in advance, hand deliver or mail forms to Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St., Lawrence, Kan., 66047.
