Tuesday, May 1, 2007ENROLLMENT IN LPRD YOUTH SUMMER CAMPS ONGOING
LAWRENCE- Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department enrollment for youth summer camps is currently underway.
Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of opportunities for youth to explore nature and have fun this summer. Camps offered include: Wet 'N Wild Aquatic Camps at both the Indoor and Outdoor Aquatic Centers, Two-Day Golf Camps at Eagle Bend Golf Course, science and adventure camps held at Prairie Park Nature Center and the traditional Summer Playgrounds program held at various parks and schools around town.
New camps offered this summer include Crazy Chemistry and Space Camp.
Special Populations also offers a fully-integrated, Unified Day Camp. This camp is for both youth with and without disabilities. Youth gain socialization skills, a chance to exercise and the opportunity to have a summer filled with friends and fun. The Friday Explorers program is also back offering trips every Friday during the summer, exploring exciting places.
Space is limited in all camps and enrollment is on a first-come/first-serve basis. The 2007 Summer Activities Guide provides all the necessary information about each camp. It can be obtained at any Parks and Recreation facility or online at www.lprd.org.
Enroll can also be conducted online at www.lprd.org or by visiting any Parks and Recreation facility including: the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr.; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative Offices, 947 New Hampshire St, Suite 200B or South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St.
