EAGLE BEND TO HOST UPCOMING KANSAS GOLF ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENTS
LAWRENCE -Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center, 1250 E. 902 Rd., will host two Kansas Golf Association tournaments.

This weekend, June 28-29, the Kansas Golf Association's 14th Public Links Championship will be decided for the second consecutive year at Eagle Bend. The Public Links Championship format is 36-holes of stroke play with an overall gross champion and features a field of Kansas Golf Association member amateur golfers who are public course players and not affiliated with a private club or course.

Scheduled to compete are 99 golfers from across the state, including from Lawrence: Erik Bredesen, David Heinz, Conrad Roberts, Spencer Wilson and Travis Walsh.

Last year at Eagle Bend, a new low score was set for the Public Links Championship by Jon Platz, Olathe, Kan., with a score of 132.

Then Monday, June 30, Eagle Bend hosts one of five Kansas Golf Association qualifiers for the 98th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship. Sixty-eight golfers will compete in 18-holes of stroke play for 25 of the 96 spots available in the Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship being held in Wichita, Kan., July 14-20.

Of the 68 golfers competing, 10 are from Lawrence, including: Erik Bredesen, Kyle Capps, Chase Chamberlin, Camron Flanders, David Heinz, Jack Maier, Thomas Rainbolt, Spencer Scott, Travis Walsh and Spencer Wilson.
