Tuesday, June 17, 2008LAWRENCE CITY BAND TO PERFORM WEDNESDAY
LAWRENCE- The Lawrence City Band continues its summer concert series at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at historic South Park’s William Kelly Bandstand, 1141 Massachusetts St. The concert is free and open to the public.
The band will perform a Chautauqua Concert – Lawrence in the 1930s. U.S. Air Force Col.(ret.) Arnald D. Gabriel will be a guest conductor and Michael Davidson will be a trombone soloist.
Sponsored by Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department and the Rice Foundation, the city band presents a concert at 8 p.m. every Wednesday night through July 16 at South Park.
The following is the band’s remaining summer concert schedule:
- June 25 – Annual Children’s Concert
- July 2 – A Star-Spangled Spectacular
- July 9 – From Kansas City to New York to Vienna and Russia
- July 16 – Season Finale
Including the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever
The band is conducted by Robert E. Foster.
