SPECIAL POPULATIONS CLASS TO HOLD MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
LAWRENCE – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Special Populations Division will hold a performance of its Musical Review 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at South Junior High School, 2734 Louisiana St. The performance is free and open to the public.

Participants from its Acting 101 class will entertain through a variety of musical numbers from past performances. Featured music include songs from the groups performances of Footloose, Beauty and the Beast, Grease, High School Musical, The Lion King and others.

The Musical Review cast members are:

From Lawrence: Lisa Barcus, Kenny Beard, Yvette Bell, Cole Browne, Jon Estill, Melissa Franklin, Patty Hadl, Renae Johnson, Jennifer McCue, Lucas McCue, Hilary Metzger, Owen Phariss, A.J. Poston, Diana Rhoades, Tom Rowe, Hal Schultz, Allison Seeman, Alan Tarpy, Jessie Warkins and Michelle Youngquist.

Others include: Ashely Kilgore, McLouth and Ashley Harkrader, Tonganoxie.

Many of the performers have appeared in other Acting 101 productions.

The Acting 101 class was created to assist individuals with disabilities to become better self-advocates, practice public speaking and become comfortable appearing in front of crowds.

The Acting 101 program received the Outstanding New or Innovative Recreation Program Award from the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association’s Recreation Branch in 2007.
