Friday, December 28, 2007AQUATIC ADMISSION RATES TO INCREASE
LAWRENCE - A rate increase for admission into the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division facilities will go into effect Wednesday, Jan. 2, when the facilities are back in operation from the holiday.
Daily admission will be $4 for adults ages 18-59, and $3 for all youth ages 5-17 and seniors ages 60 and up. There is no charge for children 4 years old and under. Annual passes for all ages will be sold for $162, and monthly passes for all ages will be $20.
Patrons may also purchase 2008 discount punch cards with 36 punches, valued at $1 each, for $30. Adults will require four punches for admission, youth and seniors require three punches for each visit. Punch cards purchased in 2007 expire Monday, Dec. 31, 2007.
The new pricing is necessary to assist in covering rising operational costs, maintaining the award-winning facilities and providing quality aquatic programming to the Lawrence community.
Discounted specials, including Senior Swim Wednesdays and monthly Buck Nights, will continue to be offered throughout the year.
Parks and Recreation's aquatic facilities are the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr., the Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., and Carl Knox Natatorium, located on the Lawrence High School campus, 1901 Louisiana St. Hours of operation vary by season, and are available online at www.lprd.org.
