Friday, August 31, 2007TIME TO START TRAINING FOR THE MASS. STREET MILE
LAWRENCE – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Mass. Street Mile at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. Runners will start at South Park, 1141 Massachusetts St., and follow Massachusetts Street through Downtown Lawrence.
Both adults and children are encouraged to enter. Awards will be given to division winners and all entrants will receive a t-shirt. Cost to participate is $12 for adults, $10 for children and $5 for walkers.
Participants are asked to pre-register by Wednesday, Sept. 5, at any Lawrence Parks and Recreation facility, including: the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr.; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. or South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St. Registration can also be done online at www.lprd.org.
Late and day-of-race registrations will be charged a $5 late fee.
Pre-registered participants may pick up their race packet and t-shirt prior to the race at Francis Sporting Goods, 731 Massachusetts St., from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 6-7, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Packets will also be distributed from 9 to 10 a.m. at South Park on the day of the race.
