LPRD TO HOST MISSOURI PARK AND RECREATION ASSOCIATION DESIGN SCHOOL
LAWRENCE – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will host the Missouri Park and Recreation Association’s Recreation Facility Design School at 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr.

The Missouri Park and Recreation Association’s Recreation Facility Design School is a nationally recognized program bringing together architects, design teams, city council members, recreation professionals and city managers from across the U.S. and Canada to look at innovation in facility design, funding and support of both private and public community facilities. Sixty-seven individuals are taking part in this year’s school.

This is the first time the program has been based in the Kansas City Metro area. All previous classes were held in the St. Louis area. The program has been held for eight years.

The group will be discussing maintenance of facilities on the tour at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center. Since the building is on shutdown, the group will get a first-hand view of what operations are conducted during this period to get a facility online for the public.

For more information, please contact Jimmy Gibbs, aquatic manager, at 785.832.7946.
