Friday, April 11, 2008NATURE CENTER’S “GREEN” LANDSCAPING PROGRAM POSTPONED DUE TO PARADE
LAWRENCE – Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department’s Prairie Park Nature Center has moved its Green Landscape Techniques for the Residential Homeowner to next Sunday, April 20, from 2-3 p.m., at the Nature Center, 2730 Harper St. It was originally scheduled for this Sunday, but has been moved to accommodate those attending the parade in honor of the University of Kansas’ men’s basketball team.
The program will focus on using sustainable, earth-friendly techniques in home gardens and landscapes. Amy Albright of Vinland Valley Nursery will present ways for the homeowner to reduce the amount of labor, water, chemicals and cost required to maintain a sustainable residential landscape. “Green” techniques also promote a healthier environment for the homeowner, children and wildlife.
Individuals do not need to pre-register for the event.
