Classes/Programs/Events

Lawrence Parks and Recreation provides many opportunities for individuals to get involved in a host of activities. Through its divisions of Recreation Instruction, Special Events and Special Populations, LPRD offers a wide variety of activities, including: fitness; dance; martial arts; tennis; art; business/computers/personal finance; home and hobbies; language; music; pet care; family/personal health and well being, as well as a wide variey of programming for kids in art; dance; gymnastics; tennis; language; fitness; and other speical interests.

Special Events include: seasonal arts & crafts festivals; fun runs; fishing derbies; seasonal and holiday activities for kids and the summer playground program.

The Special Populations Division offers both adapted and intergrated leisure recreational activities and programs for all individuals with disablilities. The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department encourages individuals with disabilities to consider all programs offered by the department.




Recreation Classes

The Recreation Instruction Division offers over 150 classes each season. With highly diverse offerings, classes are available for infants through senior citizens. The division partners with many different agencies and businesses in the community to bring more resources and expertise to the classes and activities offered. The Recreation Instruction Division continues to add programs and activities to provide variety and new experiences to the Lawrence community.
